Inspired by her Wiradjuri grandmother, who trained in fashion and passed on her skills and knowledge, Lillardia followed in her footsteps. Lillardia Briggs-Houston is a Wiradjuri, Gangulu, and Yorta Yorta fashion and textile designer whose practice is grounded in Country and culture. Working from Wiradjuri Country, based in Bungambrawatha/Albury, she creates garments, textiles, and adornments that carry stories of identity, sovereignty, and connection.

Her work sits at the intersection of fashion, art, and storytelling, drawing on cultural knowledge, oral histories, and connection to Country. Through printmaking, natural dyeing, textile development, and garment construction, she transforms ancestral knowledge into contemporary expressions that honour both tradition and innovation.

Since establishing her label in 2019, Lillardia has become a prominent voice in First Nations fashion. Her work has been presented nationally through Australian Fashion Week, Melbourne Fashion Festival, and Melbourne Fashion Week; featured in Vogue Australia and Marie Claire; and acquired by the Powerhouse Museum. She is the recipient of three National Indigenous Fashion Awards (NIFA), an Australian Fashion Laureate nominee, and continues to advocate for a future in which First Nations designers lead, shape, and redefine the Australian fashion landscape.

Every piece created under the Lillardia label is an extension of Country, carrying stories, knowledge, and the enduring strength of culture, while supporting and honouring an autonomous ecosystem in First Nations fashion.
