The ‘Walumarra’ (Protect/Custodian) collection was created in response to frustration surrounding First Nations cultural heritage laws,particularly in NSW which is the only state or territory in Australia that is yet to have standalone First Nations cultural heritage legislation. Our textiles and fashion collection was created as a biproduct of cultural mapping on Country.
50% of sales from the Walumarra collection is going toward the establishment of an independent Not for profit First Nations fashion and textiles house that provides employment and training to First Nations mob wanting a pathway in fashion and textiles in rural NSW where no opportunity is currently available. Our longterm goal is always self determination and autonomy in First Nations fashion and Design.
